About Heather

Hello, and thank you for stopping by! This site is a repository of personal and professional writing projects, and I look forward to connecting with you here.

Professional Stats:

In my professional work I focus on standards development and project management within the theme park industry, and I have taught developmental reading and writing at Valencia College in Central Florida. I hold an MA in English with an emphasis in Technical Communications from the University of Central Florida and a BA in English and Public Communications from Luther College.

I also work on freelance writing and editing projects, helping others bring their words to life. Please see my full resume on LinkedIn.

On the Home front:

I’m married and have three children who keep me somewhere between exhausted and blissfully joyful in the organized chaos of our household. They usually pop up in my writing under the names “Wheatley” – my teenage/adult son, “Little Miss Sunshine” – my teen daughter, and “Princess” – my youngest daughter. I also have two adult stepchildren and a lovely daughter-in-law who enrich my life daily.

  1. Do you do public speaking? We are looking for an uplifting speaker for our women’s Christmas luncheon at the First Baptist Church in Longwood, FL. The luncheon date is November 18th. Yes, that seems a bit early but our church calendar is very busy in December. What do you usually charge? You would speak about 20 minutes. Please respond to slewis2012@earthlink.net.
